In this example I am using two machines to demonstrate. The first is some general purpose machine that I want to update and give access to a custom package that I have created and set for distribution.
Now, some common sense should apply here. In this example I am simply adding the following to the “sources.lists” file contained in /etc/apt
deb http://archive.my.lab/dists dummy main
The screenshot below shows the root of the archive. It also shows that I am lying like a cheep rug. I will probably continue with the example as archive.my.lab…. but this exposes what I really have in play. This distribution has been around for a while. There should be material for how to create a custom repository that I have never put out there.
